Subject: COZY: Landing brake linear actuators

For what it's worth I have located a source of linear actuators
for the landing brake.
Unit specifications:

Manufacturer: SKF

Pricing: $59.95 + 1.95 handling + shipping from Lincoln, NE
(Shipping weight: 6#)

For those who want to use a linear actuator on their landing
light (or possibly roll trim, or ....) another source has
surfaced. A friend sent me a couple of linear actuators from a
'98 Honda Accord seat vertical adjustment. They have 1-1/4"
travel, small & compact, weigh about 2#, and are powerful little
buggers (far more than you will ever need). A fellow builder and
I are mounting them below the seat and controlling the landing
light with them (light per plans). The units I got were pulled
because of an unrelated warranty issue, he saw them, liked them,
grabbed them (he works there), told me about them, sent them to
me. I guess they are a high dollar item, but auto recyclers are
all over the place and maybe they, or something similar, are
readily available.

Like I said, for what it's worth

Not building an Ez, I hope, excess weight for benefit! Better idea, fix (not moveable) lights in
nose.

Thanks to Steve for the post with the alternate source for linear
actuators. I might buy one just to dissect it. They seem to be cheap
enough. I checked my builders log for the source of my actuator and for
the information archives it was:

Motion Industries
858 E. 5th St.
Oxnard, CA 93030
805-487-4877
P/N S12-17A8-04

At $151.11 each in 1992.....Its travel is 4 inches which makes it a drop
in replacement and it has embedded limit switches on each end. I built a
little sensor box to monitor its position. The panel LED is off when fully
retracted, red when in transit and green when fully deployed. I have the
same scheme for the electric nose gear and both mains. They are clustered
and you better have 4 green on final!

Subject: COZY: brake actuator

Hello to all,
I have a few questions about this electric brake topic.I have an
actuator for my plane that came with it when I bought it, I would like
to know if anybody out there has the same type of part for there
plane. The part # is as follows: the name on the side of it is MOTION
from systems corporation in eatontown, NJ. is this an actuator for the
electric brake or is this for electric trim. If this is for any of the
two options I have listed can someone tell me how the correct way to
install them would be. Or tell me where I could get the correct
instructions for them Thanks Brian
