The book suggests using masking tape to seal the gap between the canopy and
longeron and canopy to turtleback. It says to apply the tape to the gap
only, I think I understand the object here, to not get tape under the foam
that will be applied. The trick is to get the tape in place without having
some of it where you don't want it. I tried another approach here that
worked quite well. I used some soda straws, held in place with cellophane
tape placed on the inside only. These will compress when the canopy is
closed forming a good seal. You can saw right through them and extract the
pieces easily. It worked for me, no evidence of any foam leaking past
anywhere.

Everybody have a happy new year and get a lot of building done this year!

I am about to finish the center section fairing on the
Canard and would like
some advice on how best to install lips over the
fuselage at the front and
back of the canard fairing to stop water getting in, and
if any further seal
is necessary to stop water either leaking in when the
aircraft is parked on
its nose, or in flight when flying through rain? This
is one of the very
few areas where the plans leave this up to the
imagination. It instructs
you to make a depression for a lip, and says this will
be installed later.
I can't find anywhere or any drawing that completes this
operation in the 3
place plans. (Have I missed something?) So I figured
there are plenty
flying out there who can give me some help and someone
must have solved any
problems with water getting in.

When in doubt - ask!

Thanking y'all for any help you can give me, and Happy
Holidays to all.

Will
