Thanks. dd Date: Thu, 17 Apr 1997 12:31:00 -0500 From: ponciroli@postoffice.worldnet.att.net Subject: Re: COZY: MKVI interior (?) >To all, > > Is anyone making an interior for the MKIV? > > Thanks. > >dd David, There was a woman who worked for Alexanfer Aeroplane that made Nat Puffer's interior. I don't know her name but I recommend that you start with Aircraft Spruce East, they acquired Alexander, perhaps they can help you. They were the ones who actually made the interior for Nat's Mark IV. I just today delivered a deluxe interior package to Loehle Aircraft for their P5151 3/4 scale Mustang kit. I am currently working on an interior for Michael Link's MkIV in Nashville TN. The back seats were done with 3 cushions per seat (back, bottom & thigh) and I am using 4 cushsions for each side in the front (shoulder, back, bottom & thigh). The back seats were fairly basic but the fronts will be a more sculptured with center inserts and padded sides. This aircraft interior was slightly modified but the overall shape will stay the same so I should have a good idea of labor costs and material requirements by the end of next week. In the interest of keeping the mail list non-commercial I will post a notice when I am finished and those interested can contact me directly for pricing etc. FYI Alexander Aeroplane Co. in Griffin GA made the seats and side panels for Nat's airplane but I am not sure if that operation was carried over with AS&S as the new owner. If your needs are basic try making a sketch for your local upholsrey shop. If you want "aircraft approved" materials add at least 200-300%. michael.amick@nashville.com Date: Fri, 18 Apr 1997 10:00:03 -0500 From: tpierce@ghg.net (Terence J. Do they just not give off toxic fumes when burnt? Or are you paying for liability insurance? 200-300% increase is pretty steep. (I think it stems from the widespread belief that pilots are infinitely 'gougable'. I always shudder at the choice of the name 'Millionaire' for an FBO.) Actually, 1000% is the number to use for Temperfoam. That's right, 1000%! It can cost around $200 per seat for the cushioning alone if you buy Temperfoam (aka Conforfoam) through a distributor. I believe you can get it for around 1/2 of that if you buy directly from the manufacturer (E.A.R. 317-692-3000; $250 min order). However, the materials for the upholstery should not be more than automotive materials as the burn tests are equivalent. NY has the most stringent automotive flammabilility specs and any material that meets those will be more than adequate for aircraft, particularly for an experimental which has no flammability requirments on materials.
