http://stinet.dtic.mil/str/dodiss4_fields.html

I've found it quite handy. I got it from Charlie Becker at EAA Aviation Information Services.

Lycoming 388B Service Bulletin (Wobble test) [577k PDF file] EVERY Lycoming owner should have is the Service Bulletin 388B in their possession to maintain their engine.. What is it? The Wobble test. So what? Well, personally I think this is one of the MOST important tests you'll ever do on your engine (almost no one I talk to including A&P (no offense) know what it is). It tests the valve clearances on your exhaust valve. Tells you if your exhaust valve is to tight (leads to stuck valve, bad thing) or if it is too loose. Too loose and it will BREAK THE VALVE HEAD OFF, VERY bad thing. I lost two exhaust valves. The first time locking up my engine (IMC at 4000') The second it blew the cylinder head off (VFR 6500). After doing a lot of research, talking to Lycoming, I found out why. Didn't do the wobble test. After a $10,000 engine rebuild, I then went back and checked what was left of my cylinder head. Failed the wobble test. Geezzz, I do wish I was smarter sometime. Well now YOU can be!! Besides all the B.S., IT IS MANDATORY REQUIREMENT BY LYCOMING EVERY 400 HRS. Vortex Generators [78k PDF file] Numerous request for plans for VG's. I used this info to build mine out of a white plastic drywall corner protector from Home Depot. This U shaped channel was cut on a band saw, trimmed, sanded and attached to the canard. DO NOT USE RTV. Use super glue gel. The RTV doesn't stick well to the plastic... Channel Cost $1.37, glue $1.98. ACT Fuel Gage Installation Instruction [322k PDF file] Lastly some owners with those clear fuel sight glasses with the LED low fuel alarms (circa 1984) asked me for the installations instruction for their system. I apologize for taking so long but here they are. Good Flying and safe landing UNick N29TM, 2 dropped valve, 5 vacuum pumps, and much more humble....
