I am driving to Palm Spring every day for a new client of mine. About 180 miles one way so I have a lot of time to think. I have built about 15 Cozy MKIV's now in my head to kill the travel time. I was looking at cars that had pop-up headlights. If you turn the car upside down you would have pop-down headlights. So I looked for a make and model that looked like it had a similar hood curvature like the bottom of the Cozy. I found myself at a pick-a-part junk yard out in Indio (Don't ask). I found the servo unit that makes the lights pop-up and down. Its electric, small, light weight, and has a top and bottom travel adjustment built in. It came out of a Honda Prelude. The cost was.............$10.00. I'm not ready to install the landing light yet but was thinking about this idea. It may not be new but sounds like a nice trick. Has anyone done this yet? Clark, Thanks for the info on the Honda Prelude headlight servo. How light and how small is it? I've done my landing lights (see http://kgarden.com/cozy/chap13.htm ), but was still wondering how to deploy them. Better get that Cozy built! 180 miles each way would be a one hour flight! I commuted 200 miles each way in a Cherokee for 18 months. Lots of fun. Keep building. John Slade, Cozy MKIV #757, progress: http://kgarden.com/cozy West Palm Beach, FL
